The Catalog of Cancer Genes collects the genes driving the tumorigenesis in a certain tumor type(s) upon a certain alteration (mutation, copy number alteration and/or gene translocation). This information may be supported by validated data and/or computational prediction. Information of genes with a consensus oncogenic effect is aggregated from the Cancer Gene Census (license here) and a manual curation effort. Computational predictions are based on the identification of signals of positive selection in the pattern of gene alterations by using an ensembl of bioinformatics tools, most included in the IntOGen resource (license here).
